I obtained my PhD on Molecular Biology (Immunology), supervised by Dr. Balbino Alarcón, at the Autonomous University of Madrid (Spain) in 2006, and moved to the McMaster Stem Cell and Cancer Research Institute (Canada) as a postdoctoral fellow under the supervision of Dr. Mick Bhatia, working on pluripotent stem cells and cancer stem cells. Since 2011, I lead a research group as a PI at the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute (Barcelona, Spain). My laboratory is interested in searching for new therapeutic targets and treatment approaches for leukemia stem cells and other hematological neoplasms. I have published more than 20 peer-reviewed papers in international journals. I am the co-inventor of 6 patents, all of them licenced out. The laboratory has secured more than 1.5 million € from public agencies and more than 200k from private foundations/donors.

In 2015, I co-founded Leukos Biotech, a spin-off company focus on clinical developed new drugs and medical devices for blood neoplasias. More than 4 million € have been secured from investors and public funds.

I usually collaborate as an expert reviewer for international journals, national and international founding agencies and for biotech companies.
