I received the BSc degree in Chemistry in 2001 and MSc degree in 2002 from the Universitat de Barcelona (UB). I obtained my PhD in 2008 at the Institut of Microelectronics of Barcelona (IMB-CNM, CSIC) working with Dr. J.A. Plaza. My doctoral work was focused on the development of technologies suitable for fabrication of micro/nano tools fitted to an Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) and for applications in the Life Sciences. Then, I moved to Groningen (The Netherlands) to work as postdoctoral researcher at Pharmaceutical Analysis group at University of Groningen, group headed by Prof. Sabeth Verpoorte. My research involved monitorization of cell culture and control of slug/laminar flow using chemical surface modification of the walls of the microchannel. After 3 years in The Netherlands, I moved to Hull (UK) to join the group headed by Dr Nicole Pamme at the University of Hull. There I worked in a project fully funded by a company to develop a microfluidic device for pathogen detection in food and clinical samples for a year and a half. Afterward, I worked in NANODEM European project at INESC MN, private research association headed by Prof. Paulo Freitas and Dr. Susana Cardoso de Freitas at Lisbon (Portugal). Actually, I am working back in Barcelona at IBEC in Nanobioengineering group headed by Prof. Samitier.
