Since 2007, I have been involved in a variety of multidisciplinary projects in the field of nanoscience working in the design and development of functional nanostructured materials for life science applications. My research has focuses on the area of bionano-interactions, studying NPs interactions with biological fluids. Thus making me more aware of the different parameters that can affect the bio-nano interactions and the relationship between the design and structure of the nanoparticles and its “biological” properties. This aspect is crucial for the implementation of effective smart nanomaterials that maintain their functionality under relevant biological conditions, and therefore potentially applicable in nanomedicine
