Ravikumar Balasubramanian MBBS, PhD, FRCPE, is a reproductive endocrinologist and rare disease translational investigator at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), Assistant Director of the MGH Harvard Center for Reproductive Medicine and Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School.

He received his MBBS from Kilpauk Medical College in Chennai, India and completed clinical training in Internal Medicine, Diabetes & Endocrinology in the United Kingdom (Leeds, Cambridge and Newcastle-upon-tyne). He obtained his PhD in Medical Sciences at University of Newcastle and performed postdoctoral research fellowship in reproductive endocrinology with Dr. William F. Crowley Jr. at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston. He became an indepedent faculty investigator in 2015 and holds several NIH funded research grants.

His research uses translational genetic investigation to unravel the neuroendocrine control of reproduction and to understand the biologic determinants of human puberty and reproductive integrity. He has developed expertise in endocrine physiology, translational human investigation and human genetics. His research has identified several novel genes and pathways governing human reproduction and illuminated key genotype-phenotype relationships in genetic forms of human infertility. He has authored over 40 scientific publications in various high-impact journals. He received the Myre-Sim Prize from the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh and has been elected as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, UK.
