Help us confirm that you're an expert

Luis holds a Ph.D. in Biomedical Science from the University of Sheffield (United Kingdom). In addition to research experience, he enjoys science from an application point of view, which sparked his interest in Technology Transfer. To ignite his interest, he collaborated as a Business Development Associate at Innovation Forum. This is a UK non-profit accelerator for healthcare ventures, supported by a global grassroots network for over 10,000 innovators who seek to improve human health and wellbeing by translating cutting-edge science into innovative products and services.
Back in Mexico, his home country, he worked at the Technology Transfer office of Agrobioteg Innovation Park where he helped academic and general public entrepreneurs who had a bioscience idea to turn it into a product, process, and/or service.
Luis worked at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) – Technology Transfer and Intellectual Property Office. At the NIH, Luis drafted and negotiated a variety of agreements, including collaboration agreements and license agreements for NIAID with industry, academia, and non-profits to facilitate the development of early-stage discoveries. He also worked closely with investigators affiliated with the Vaccine Research Center (VRC) to protect and commercialize their inventions and fostered relationships with industry partners interested in further developing vaccine candidates discovered at the VRC.

Currently, he has joined Bionovation agency located in Mexico. Specifically, he is in charge of managing Technology Transfer and Technology Scouting activities to increase the pace at which innovation developed in Latin American universities and companies can be turned into useful products, services, and technologies.
