I am the Head of Functional Genomics at Systasy Bioscience, a Munich-based contract research organization in the area of preclinical drug discovery for disorders of the brain. In this position I am leading the tech development for a variety of NGS-based assays in primary brain cells and iPSC-derived cell culture models. These assays range from pooled CRISPR screens to massively parallel reporter assays, making me an expert in these applications, as well as in next-generation sequencing, target identification, and psychiatric drug discovery in general. With over ten years of experience in the field of functional genomics, I have been part of the tremendous technology development with regard to next-generation sequencing and the transition from RNA interference- to CRISPR-Cas9 screens. This speed and the endless opportunities for biomedical innovation are my motivation to push these technologies in the company and beyond.
