Jacques du Plessis

I did a master’s degree in tuberculosis immunology working on the effect that B-cells have on the disease and treatment response. I helped design the experiments, and did all of the work that had to do with the flow cytometry of the project (optimisation, data acquisition and data analysis). I am proficient to an advanced level with flow cytometry. I first authored three publications from my master’s degree. A full-size literature review, an immuno-phenotyping paper and one regarding the functional work. The journals were Tuberculosis, the Journal of Inflammation and PLOS One respectively. I have experience working in the pharmaceutical industry with regulatory affairs and later worked my way about halfway through a PhD in Pharmacology until someone (unfortunately) published a PhD on the same work as I was busy with and my project lost novelty. I’m currently working as a researcher in a new initiative doing Health Technology Assessments with an industry expert.
