Luca Mannocci

I studied Chemistry at the University of Pisa with a focus on the synthesis and characterization of pharmaceutically relevant naturally occurring compounds. In 2008 I earned my Ph.D. in Chemistry under the supervision of Professor Dario Neri in the Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences at ETH Hönggerberg, with a dissertation on the first implementation of DNA-encoded chemical libraries (DECLs) for drug discovery applications.

In 2008 I joined Philochem AG as Head of DNA-Encoded Chemistry to lead a drug discovery unit dedicated to the design and synthesis of DNA-encoded chemical libraries for in-house drug discovery programs.

I am author of several publications on DECL-technology in high impact peer-reviewed journals. I have been co-organizer and chair speaker of two International Symposium on DNA-encoded chemical libraries.

Since 2012 I am DNA-encoded chemical library technology independent consultant for Pharmaceutical, drug discovery, compound screening and biotech companies.

At the same time, I cover the role of ADC Senior Chemist – Project Manager at CARBOGEN AMCIS. I am responsible for the coordination of a team dedicated to the execution of aseptic pre-clinical and clinical cGMP bio-conjugation programs (ADC, synthetic vaccines, anticoagulants), including supervision/management of the process validation activities, according to authority and customer specification requirements. As member of the business initiative team, I supported sales, business forecasting in bioconjugation field as well as customer relation duties.

I was trained in the implementation of single use systems for bio-manufacturing and in the design, GMP-qualification and supervision of Grade-C and Grade-D cleanrooms according to ISO-14644. In 2018 I was appointed CODEMA PHARMA (http://www.codemapharma.com ) acknowledged expert (www.for the CODEMA Rating Program of bio-manufacturing Companies according to framework protocols and international standard ISO 19011 (guidelines for auditing management systems).

Since 2015, I am co-founder of DyNAbind (www.dynabind.com), a next-generation DNA-Encoded Library (DEL) technologies Company based on patented innovations which provide faster, cheaper and more reliable paths to medicinal chemistry starting points, while being the only DEL platform on the market offering integration with modern fragment-based drug discovery.
