Leonard Nelson

I am a Senior Research Fellow (Associate Professor) at the University of Edinburgh (QS Global World Ranking #20). My research interests span liver cell biology/ integrative biology, tissue and synthetic biological engineering, and nanotechnology: I lead and coordinate multidisciplinary research program of international dimension/ quality, including management of staff and resources, with the aim of developing a strong research portfolio in human liver tissue modelling, integrative biology (Liver-brain axis: Alzheimer’s Disease), cell biology, and liver/ related diseases, with a strong translational component, and as alternatives to animal models, and achieving publication of research outcomes in high impact journals.
