Academic: In 2002, I obtained a diploma in Biochemistry from the University Witten/Herdecke in Germany and in 2005 a PhD in Biology from the University Muenster in Germany. I worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute for Molecular Biotechnology in Vienna / Austria. Since 2013 I head of the Developmental and Cellular Biology group at the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) and have a Professor position at the University of Luxembourg.
The focus of my work over the last years was on Neurobiology, Stem Cell research and Parkinson’s disease. In particular, I am interested in using human induced pluripotent stem cells for the development of advanced approaches for in vitro disease modeling. I published more than 70 papers in peer-reviewed journals, hold several patents and severs as reviewer for numerous journals and funding agencies.
Entrepreneurial: I Co-founded OrganoTherapeutics, where he currently acts as CEO, in 2019. Before I was co-founder and CSO of Braingineering Technologies (2016-2018).
