Hugo Villanueva

I just finished a doctorate in synthetic biology and bacteriophage therapy on a project where we made mutant bacteriophages which can then be patentable–I have 2 papers on this coming out. On the side of my PhD, I was president the UCL branch of Innovation Forum, which is a pre-accelerator for very early stage ideas. I have ran many workshops on ideation, business plan and how to pitch. I am one of the founding members of the Science Entrepreneur Club in London, a non-profit organisation which bridges the gap between academia and industry. We have ran 15 very successful events in 2019 in partnership with the RebelBio accelerator, Merck accelerator and Panacea stars. I am currently working with a consulting firm called RevenantBio and we support early stage life science companies and spin-outs. I have done technical biotech due diligence for Entrepreneur First an accelerator which recently expanded into the field. They previously only funded ‘software’/’hardware’ companies and are starting to fund companies in the biotech/therapeutics/in-vitro diagnostics space.
