Estéfano Pinilla

I am a posdoctoral researcher at Aarhus University, Denmark. I obtained my PhD in Cardiovascular Pharmacology two years ago, evaluating novel targets and mechanism of action to improve vascular health and extracellular matrix deposition. I have authored and co-authored 14 publications in international peer-peer reviewed journals and partcipated in more than 15 international conferences, including the prestigious Gordon Research Conference “Transglutaminases in Human Disease Processes”, where I was invited as a speaker, and which 2022 edition I helped to organize as the chair of the associated Seminar. I have acted as peer-reviewer for 4 internationally recognized scientific journals and as an external evaluator for the Personal Research Grants of the Israel Science Foundation (ISF).

In addition to my academic activities, I have filled a patent based on the research I did during my PhD and I am in the process of funding a drug development start-up tackling Chronic Kidney Disease and other fibrotic diseases. As a pending spin-out, we have succesfully obtained funding from the Innovationfonden (Denmark) and Novo-Nordisk’s Bioinnovation Institute. I have also been able to adquire some experience in dealflow and due diligence as a Working Group member in VitaDAO, a collective funding translational research in geroscience/longevity.
