I work as a Medical Oncology Consultant in Liverpool, UK. I have a scientific background (PhD in cancer biology at the University of Cambridge) and I am currently the lead for Thoracic Oncology Clinical Research in the North West of England.

I lead centralized Thoracic Oncology services in my centre, including clinical research; I am the principal investigator of 16 clinical trials and have set up two investigator-led studies, which have attracted £1.5 mil of investment from pharma companies. I am also involved in organizing clinical service delivery for Thoracic Oncology in the region, from which links to clinical and basic research stem to the surgical unit and university labs.

For some time during my PhD I was part of the project “workwith”, an online platform that intended to join scientists and clinicians with funding sources. This experience gave me the opportunity to see the challenges of setting up a startup company.
