Rubén Fernández Pozo

I am Senior Researcher at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. My main research activities have been focused on machine learning and signal processing and its related applications, and, in particular, on Intelligent Transportation Systems, Spoken Language Technologies and Human-Machine interaction areas. My career has mainly been linked to different technology transfer projects from our group with some of the most important spanish telco companies.

Voice analysis of obstructive sleep apnea patients and their application in diagnosis support.

My Thesis, “Voice analysis of obstructive sleep apnea patients and their application in diagnosis support” was part of an on-going collaborative effort between the medical and the signal processing communities to promote research on applying the speech analysis. Specifically standard Automatic Speaker Recognition techniques for the automatic detection of patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA). Effective and early ASR-based detection of apnoea cases through voice analysis could dramatically cut medical testing time and the most serious cases can receive early treatment.
