Dear receiver,

I am Alvaro and I am a bilingual researcher in Biomedical Engineering with over 5 years project management experience in life science and engineering. I did my PhD in Biomedical Engineering at one of the top-funded tissue engineering laboratories in the UK, the Centre for the Cellular Microenvironment at the University of Glasgow (where I have been living for more than 5 years). During that time, besides designing and developing biomaterials and animal-substitute models, I was involved in consulting companies and research groups in both academia and hospitals on the use of additive manufacturing technologies for tissue engineering, advising on the best ways to approach material and biological model design and development. I also took on mentoring and teaching roles, as teaching assistant in different courses and mentoring and supervising 10+ Master Students and 4+ PhD in the completion of their projects. I have also trained and advised other postdoctoral researchers, Principal Investigators and senior scientists on different companies on Tissue Engineering, 3D Bioprinting and Biomaterial design. I have extensive experience on communicating scientific concepts, results and recommendations to diverse, multidisciplinary audiences: author of peer-reviewed articles, speaker in international and national conferences, invited speaker in conferences and industry webinar and in public engagement initiatives catered towards non-scientist audience. I have become an expert in the field, and have been invited to review submitted articles by other peers to top journals on the field.

Additionaly, I have been deeply interested in the innovation transfer aspect of science and the creation of lifetech, biotech and deeptech start ups, converting scientific advances into clinical/ real-life products.

My career goal is to be able be a part and collaborate in the materialization of science into actual products, advising and consulting deeptech/lifetech/biotech startups on their science and being able to translate complex scientific concepts to investors and stakeholders
