Alvaro Ingles-Prieto

Dear committee,

My name is Alvaro Ingles-Prieto, Ph.D. I am the communications and business development (BD) manager of two EU-funded public-private consortia called RESOLUTE and REsolution (re-solute.eu). I would like to be part of the Bioexpert Network because it would allow me to work on the forefront of scientific innovation and sustainability worldwide.

In the last years, I established myself as a detail driven, solutions-oriented manager in the Life Sciences (PMP certified). I have proven my capacity to solve complex challenges within diverse research fields, manage competing demands, and communicate effectively. In my role as BD manager, I gained extensive experience in business relations by negotiating contracts, licenses and agreements across universities, biotech companies and research institutes. As communications manager, I established trust and built strong relationships with stakeholders to enable the successful achievement of project goals in a collaborative setting. This includes the implementation of communication activities, organization of meetings and events, as well as the development of a mentoring program for junior investigators.

Through my research, I authored 21 research articles covering a broad scientific spectrum: from single-molecule to animal studies. I studied Biochemistry at the University of Salamanca and obtained my Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Granada. For my postdoctoral phase, I joined high-paced and competitive institutes: IST Austria and later CeMM, where I mentored Master’s students, attended Entrepreneurship courses and organized a networking event with the Federation of Austrian Industries (IV). I am self-motivated, eager to tackle new challenges and a highly mobile professional, which has provided me with a unique international perspective. I gained extensive professional network though the scientific collaboration with multidisciplinary groups and within the frame of the two international consortia, which includes pharmaceutical companies, SMEs and research labs. I also worked with junior entrepreneurs in the Superti-Furga lab: Nikolaus Krall and Gregory Vladimer (Allcyte, now Exscientia) and Ariel Bensimon (Solgate). Being CeMM a very collaborative institute, I became aware of the needs and challenges that my colleagues faced during the foundation of their companies.
