Alberto Benguria

I have been working in basic research for more than 30 years. I have a PhD in biochemistry and worked as a postdoc in several labs studying molecular biology of aging. Since 2002 I work in Genomics, first at the National Center for Biotechnology (CNB) and since 2007 at the National Center for Cardiovascular Research (CNIC), both located in Madrid. In my work I use cutting edge genomics technologies, like next generation and third generation sequencing, to provide genomic data to different research groups. Additionally I am involved in several projects applying transcriptomics in different cardiovascular diseases. As an example I study, at the gene expression level, the differences in the outcome after myocardial infarction between young men and women
